Guest Grizzley Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Hi allnew here but need help please.I purchases a 1998 1.9TDi Galaxy about 8 months ago.Last month we lost all power from the turbo(just wasn't kicking in at all) but after a short run it started working again.Been ok now for a couple of months.Last night it stopped again. I have full rev range but the turbo just doesn't kick in at any gear or any revs.It will accelerate slowly to 70mph but takes forever to do so.Theres no noise from the turbo ,no oil loss etc.Any ideas?Have done a search through the site but nothing of any help....Thanks in advanceGrizzp.s whats the MAF?? Posted this in the wrong section previously...sorry Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Possibly wastegate stuck open, thereby effectively bypassing the turbo... Mike Quote
seatkid Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 also all vacuum pipes, particularly to waste gate, which are prone to crack and leak. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 The MAF is the Mass AirFlow meter, it is the plastic pipe with the connector on it that is mounted on the air filter box. Quote
Guest EVSS Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 had the same problem with my freinds, drove like a normal diesel , then next time you ran it , it was a turbo again. ended up being a waste gate gummed up. Quote
Guest Grizzley Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Can you tell me how you sorted the problem? Can you clean the waste gate or can you replace it?Thanks Quote
Guest pnwheels Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Check the forum- I've posted a couple of items on how to go about pulling the turbo apart. Quote
